Located in the heart of southern Ontario, the “Royal City”, so called for the royal origins of its name, is a beautiful example of a ‘rural city’. Being one of the first planned cities in Canada, Guelph is characterized by a lovely downtown core, lined with century-old limestone buildings and features of 19th century European urban design, while the city itself is surrounded by beautiful natural vistas.

Guelph is the home of the University of Guelph, which itself has a long and interesting history. One of Canada's top comprehensive universities, U of G is home to the the only planning school in the country focused on rural studies.
