David Gurin

David Gurin is most notable as former Commissioner of Planning for Metropolitan Toronto and as former Deputy Commissioner of Transportation for the City of New York, a post that he held for twelve years. He has taught planning at Ryerson University, the University of Toronto and at the City University of New York. David currently works as a city and regional planning consultant and is a member of the Committee of Adjustment for the City of Toronto and on the board of directors for the Toronto Port Authority.  Recent publications include Farmers’ Markets: Opportunities for Preserving Greenbelt Agriculture for the Friends of the Greenbelt Foundation; Housing Prices and Greenbelt Protection: Facts and Fiction for Environmental Defence Canada; and Understanding Sprawl: A Citizen’s Guide on behalf of the David Suzuki Foundation.
